St. Petersburg Neighborhoods With The Most Expensive Homes

Thanks to having 244 miles of shoreline along Tampa Bay, Boca Ciega Bay, the Gulf of Mexico, and the intracoastal waterways, St. Petersburg is no stranger to lavish, luxurious, and expensive homes, especially along the waterfront. And while not every luxury home in town lies along the scenic waterfront, many of St. Petersburg's most sought-after neighborhoods sit somewhere near the bay. From historic homes with classic architectural styles to modern new construction homes with all the latest tech, here is a closer look at several St. Petersburg neighborhoods that are known for having the most expensive homes real estate on the market.

Historic Old Northeast

Bungalows and Mediterranean-style homes dot the brick streets of this downtown-adjacent haven, which oozes vintage charm thanks to around 3,000 historic buildings. It’s lush with jacarandas, pines, palms, and magnolias, and the white sand beach of North Shore Park (which also has biking, walking, and play areas) adds to the allure. Nearby Coffee Pot Bay is well-known for its manatee population and makes for a fun excursion. The shopping district features beloved restaurants and boutiques alongside several city landmarks. St. Petersburg transit system buses service the Historic Old Northeast neighborhood, making for an easy jaunt to the downtown nightlife scene.

Snell Isle

A tranquil community with an intriguing history, Snell Isle was one of St. Petersburg's first waterfront neighborhoods. It dates back to a century ago, when C. Perry Snell–a Kentucky druggist who’d traveled extensively through Europe and developed an affinity for its upscale towns–moved to the area and began buying properties to develop into residential commercial buildings and public parks. The area’s tropical surroundings with abundant boat docks, beautiful parks, and stunning luxury custom homes grew out of Snell’s vision. Snell Isle is only five minutes from downtown, but its classic architecture, manicured lawns, and tree-lined streets gives it a much different feel. Residents take advantage of kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, and motor boating opportunities from private docks on a protected waterway that opens out on Tampa Bay.
