Tampa provides a number of trendy restaurants perfect for a night out. Both Hyde Park and SoHo are home to many of the top area restaurants. SoHo actually has an area called “Restaurant Row” with more than 35 choices.

It’s hard to narrow the list of dining options in this area down to just a few really good choices. There are dozens of great restaurants throughout these neighborhoods. Here are just a few of the top choices.

Edison Food + Drink Lab

It’s unlike anything else in the area with a science theme and plenty of food experiments to enjoy, such as the jalapeno Cracker Jacks. Diners also enjoy unique decor and the Hummingbird milkshake is a great choice.


Datz is found on South MacDill Avenue and provides one of the most popular restaurants in the entire city. It’s a warm atmosphere with an industrial vibe and a casual feel. The comfort food provides something everybody will enjoy with traditional options with a twist, such as the meatloaf stuffed with mac ‘n cheese. The portions are very large and they also offer brunch on weekends.

Bella’s Italian Cafe

One of the best places in Tampa for Italian cuisine, Bella’s is located on South Howard Avenue. It’s a South Tampa favorite and has been around for nearly three decades. The lighting provides a romantic feel, while the relaxing atmosphere draws in all types of diners. The food includes wood-fired pizzas, pasta dishes and plenty of other options. Of course, for dessert, there’s nothing better than the tiramisu.

Mise en Place

Located on West Kennedy Boulevard, Mise en Place provides an intimate choice perfect for a date night out. The menu is always changing, which provides regulars with something different to try all the time. They specialize in New American cuisine, such as sous vide venison loin and many other unique choices.

Bern’s Steak House

Bern's Steak HouseMaybe the best restaurant in SoHo or Hyde Park, Bern’s Steak House is found on South Howard Avenue. This family-owned operation has been around since 1956. The quality of the food is amazing and the menu is full of amazing choices. They offer vegetarian options, seafood, chicken and some of the finest charcoal-grilled steaks you will find in the area. Many of the vegetables are locally-grown on Bern’s Farm. They also provide an amazing wine list with more than 7,000 vintages.

If you’re looking for an amazing place to dine in South Tampa, these five restaurants top the list. There are dozens of great choices throughout Hyde Park and SoHo, but you won’t find any better than these dining options.
