You’ve sold your home, bought a new one and now it’s time to move into your new Tampa home. Whether you’re coming from out of state or just moving across town, moving can be very stressful. Even though it’s stressful, it doesn’t have to be a nightmare.
During any move, problems may occur. Sometimes, the problems come from a mistake you made, while other times they can’t be avoided. Here are some of the common issues you may face during a move, which you can prevent.
Choosing a Bad Mover
One of the worst things you can do when moving to a home in Tampa is choose a bad mover. Some movers simply don’t show up or they show up late and don’t care. Others are very careless with your things due to inexperience. The last thing you want is a late mover or one that doesn’t take care of your things.
You also have to be on the lookout for scam artists. Some movers will try to scam you and request more money than the original quote for extra services they didn’t provide. They may even hold your things hostage until you pay. Even worse, they could steal your most expensive things if you don’t pay them.
You can easily avoid the nightmare of choosing a bad mover by researching the potential options. Make sure they are licenses, bonded and insured before you even consider hiring the mover. You should also check their experience and look for online reviews to help give you an idea of their reputation.
Heavy Traffic
Traffic can be an issue you really cannot control. Accidents happen and traffic jams may prevent you from getting to your new location on time. If the moving truck is delayed, you may be better off pushing the move to another day. This might save you time and money, but it may not be possible, either.
Maybe a traffic accident happened and the moving truck cannot get through. This could be even worse if the moving truck is involved in the crash or gets stuck during bad weather.
It’s also possible for the moving truck to break down or experience parking issues. Maybe they simply cannot find a spot close to your home or they end up stranded on the side of the road with all of your things.
You may not be able to prevent every possible issue, but you can reserve parking for the moving truck in front of both the old and the new home. You can also choose an experienced mover with several trucks in good condition to help prevent other issues.
Bad Organization
A very avoidable issue is poorly organizing your things when you pack them up. Packing chaotically will make unpacking a nightmare. Instead, you want to properly pack all of your items, label them and use the right packing materials.
Furniture can be an issue, too. Sometimes large furniture doesn’t fit through doors and other pieces may require special equipment to move. Maybe you have a piano you need moved or a large couch. These items require special attention and can be hard to move without a professional mover.
It’s important to be organized not only with packing, but also with the paperwork for utilities, change of address and other documents. An organized move is a safer, less time consuming and less costly move. Make sure you take the time to pack up properly and you will be happy you did when it comes time to unpack.
Moving from one Tampa house to another can be very stressful. It’s even more stressful if you’re coming from out of state to the Tampa area. Avoiding these three common issues will help lessen your stress level. Of course, an experience mover will also help in many ways.
