Sometimes when date night rolls around, you tend to choose the same restaurants and movie theaters without knowing how to change up the routine. When you want to take your special someone out to on a fun date, you tend to forget that the typical dinner and a movie is getting old and not impressing anyone. It’s time for a change and luckily Tampa has many great date night spots available that you probably haven’t even thought of.
There are some fun spots to check out around town on the weekends, from concerts to theater and even outdoors spots you’ve probably never realized how romantic it could be. Take a look at these five date idea near Tampa that after visiting, you’ll have a hard time going to your old date night spots ever again.
Lovers Key
On a night when the weather is great and you want to keep things low key, you’ll love a visit to Lovers Key, one of Florida’s state parks. What’s perfect is if you go on the right night, the state park hosts a monthly concert in an acoustic gazebo on the beach. You can find Lovers Key accessible by tram or boardwalk near Fort Myers on a 2-mile stretch of beach, perfect for romantic walks. Many people come here for paddle boarding, picnics, shelling, and catching the sunset.
Game night
Game night is always a fun time when you have a group of people, but what about when you’re on a date? Can you really get into a game with your date? Some people will take their date to mini-golf or playing a round of tennis for some exercise, but is there a way to really wow your date while incorporating games?
It turns out that you can create a memorable experience by simply acting like a kid again, at stops like Terrace Sports for laser tag or at a local “escape room,” a fun new trend in adventure stops where players are locked in a room until they can solve a puzzle to escape. Check this out at Escape Countdown on W Kennedy Blvd on Sunday nights because couples get champagne and chocolates before entering a game called “Paris.”
Something musical
If something musical is more up your alley, a perfect date night in Tampa would be to a performance by the Florida Orchestra. You can catch beautiful performances throughout the week and there are even on-site dining options to enjoy a pre-show meal with your date. If the orchestra is too much for you, perhaps a local bar with some live music is more up your alley. Check out Ale and the Witch in St. Pete’s for nightly live music in the outdoor courtyard or the Ruby’s Elixir for jazz and blues.
Movies
If you’re still not over the idea of catching a movie, perhaps you just need to change up the routine. Try the Tampa Theatre for a love story on screen and stop by a local eatery for drinks and dinner. You could also check out the Cinebistro in Hyde Park Village for a new movie stop where you’ll be located near upscale dining and drinks.
Culture
Lastly, if you’ve decided that you really need to see more that Tampa has to offer, a perfect date night would be to embrace some local culture and visit stops like the Museum of Art and the Tampa Riverwalk. You’ll find tons of great dining and drink options on the Riverwalk and you’ll likely discover something new visiting this local museum.
When you’ve run out of great date night ideas or you need to get out of your rut, these are five excellent ways to impress your date this weekend!
