The holiday season is a festive time of the year that’s often spent with family and friends, and hardly a time when you want to be thinking about the stress of selling a home, or potentially even moving once your home is inevitably sold.
But despite the widespread belief that spring and summer are the best times to sell a home, the holiday season can actually be a terrific time to put your home on the market, and here’s why:
Buyers Are Motivated
Just like for home sellers, the holiday season also isn't an ideal time to be out shopping for a home, so anyone who specifically takes time out of their holiday schedule to attend an open house or preview your home is probably a pretty serious buyer.
Less Seller Competition
With the spring and summer often the busiest time of the year for the housing market, fewer homes are listed during the holiday season. And with most potential sellers also not wanting to deal with listing their home during the holidays, choosing to put your home on the market might just lead to more exposure in the short-term.
You’ve Already Prepped Your Home For Guests
If you’re someone who already plans on hosting family and friends over the holidays, chances are you’ve already made sure your home is in tip-top shape, which is perfect if you also plan on selling. One of the biggest issues people have with selling their home is often all the prep work that needs to be done like cleaning or making minor in-home improvements; but if you’re already planning to knock these things out in anticipation of having over all your friends and family this holiday season, the dirty work is already done!
